This urban river has recorded about a third of the birds of Nuevo León (around 165 species). This riparian corridor has enormous Montezuma cypress that allow the presence of birds of prey, herons and different songbirds. In this riverside habitat we can find Green and Ringed Kingfishers, White-faced and White Ibis, Gray, Cooper’s and Common Black Hawks, Great Kiskadee, Ferruginous Pygmy Owl, Ladder-backed and Golden-fronted Woodpeckers, Neotropic Cormorant, Pied-billed and Least Grebes, Black-bellied Whistling Duck, Green Parakeets, Red-crowned Amazon, Plain Chachalaca, as well as Yellow-crowned and Black-crowned Night-herons, Tricolored and Green Herons, Great and Snowy Egrets. In spring and summer, migratory birds such as Sulphur-bellied Flycatcher or Yellow-breasted Chat.
