El Manzano Park is located in the Sierra Madre Oriental in the community of Ciénega de González. The types of vegetation present in the area include oak forest, submontane scrubland, and rocky slope vegetation.
This combination of plant communities allows for a diversity of birds that include Black-crested and Bridled Titmice, Canyon Wren, Mexican Jay, Flame-colored Tanager, Grey-collared Becard, Northern Pygmy-Owl, Hairy Woodpecker, Brown-backed Solitaire, Coppery-tailed Trogon, Northern Beardless-Tyrannulet, Hutton’s Vireo, White-throated Swift, Rufous-crowned Sparrow, Rufous-capped Brushfinch, Crescent-chested Warbler, Painted Redstart and many others.
In summer we can look for Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Yellow-green Vireo, Orange-billed and Black-headed Nightingale-thrushes and sometimes Brown-capped Vireo.
